Oort: Poetic Space
Oort belongs to the Outside. We are a message from free space, for those who have gone beyond and returned to us. We are gathered to hear of strange journeys: into the word, the mind, the future.
As free and joyful poets we seek to rescue the craft from its current oblivion. Poetry is an trapped art, detached from the online public, interred in inward-looking circles. What shell of poetry remains is a technologically-determined consumer product, curated either by social algorithm or official committee. We are thus incapable of matching the achievements of the past, because we are cut off from our present and blinded to our future. This is not creation. The true creators of our day are those who touch the real, and they yet exist. Behind myriad anonymous accounts, behind organic underground networks, behind illegible memetic creativity, the truth of the world multiplies, fragments, becomes strange beyond comprehension and yet more real than reality.
You must join these creators. You must wrest the Muse from her chains and resuscitate her corpse. You must write free and beautiful words, brimming with life. And then - come to us, for you are not alone.
